One of the major drawbacks of the makkal nala kootani or the people's welfare party(PWP) was the party's symbol. In the 2016 TN State legislative assembly the PWP was formed initially it constitued 4 parties the VCK, CPI, CPI(M) and the MDMK later DMDK and the  TMC. The formation of the first four parties gained respect from a lot of yongsters who were expecting a change. Later when Vijayakanth joined the PWD, the people termed it him a drunkyard and when the PWD alliance announced Vijayakanth to be the CM few decided not to vote for the alliance due to Vijayakanth's inefficiency. However PWD though lost the elections it shouldve atleast earned a good sum of votes because it was potrayed as the replacement or the change for the big corrupted parties the ADMK and the DMK. Atlast the PWD alliance ranked 4th and PMK receiving the 3rd place. Why was it so? The PMK only had respect in the Sountern states but it gained additional influence, the reason for this is the symbol of the party.

One of the brilliant idea followed by the AIADMK is that all the alliances contesting in the election should stand with the same two leaves symbol. This was a very good political move because even people like Actor Karunas won seats. Not many know his party name but they know the symbol and they voted for it. Similarly many still vote for the two mango leaves symbol of the ADMK because it was brought into force by M.G.R and they still have faith restored on his rule (according to few he s still alive).
In PWD, there were seat sharing in this case for eg: If a person wants to vote for PWD because VCK is their favourite party and the person hasnt followed the news for a long time. He will obviously come and check the list of candidates and their parties in the list he maynt find VCK due to the seat sharing, that particular area mightbe under the DMDK and this person since he dont know about this chooses between the ADMK or the DMK. So there is this huge confusion among youngsters based on symbols. If PWD wants to establish themselves just like how they named themselves as the PWD they need to introduce an uniform symbol for all the parties that come under PWD only then they can establish themselves. The symbol they chose shouls also be relatable to the large number of population jut like how the Aam Admi had broomstick. The PWD should also market or PR their symbol. When I once met traffic ramasway he said he has filed a case in the high court  demanding the abolition of party symbols and the election to be based only on the picture of the candidate without even revealing the name of the candidate's party. He believes that this step can bring a bring difference and the CM will be represented purely based on talent and the amount of goodness he has done to the community.  #PWD #Change_Symbol #Tomakeachange
